we all have been there in the garage at 2 am after a brake line fail. You get the line patched now you just need to get the air out of the system. and you break the bleeder screw off or round it off. I've had it happen all to many times. Then i developed this method because i had to learn a way to do it better.
In this method i use a small propane torch you can get at your local hardware store.
i use MAPP gas because it burns a little hotter. tinfoil for heat shielding, and the tools needed for your bleeder application. such as a 10mm wrench or socket but manufacturers differ. and some penetrating fluid (wd40 or something along those lines.)
At this point your staring at your rusted brake bleeder your going to use the tinfoil to wrap up the rubber part of the line to avoid any accidental damage from the heat.make sure to use layers to be a proper heat shield. Then spray the penetrating fluid at the bleeder screw to help break free the rust.if you have the opportunity to let the vehicle sit and spray it every 8 hours or so this can greatly improve your chances. along with scraping away any loose rust with a small wire brush.
Next i usually use a six pint socket to hammer on the bleeder (most times they corroded to not be the size intended. such as the 10mm that was supposed to be the size needed a 8mm socket to be hammered on to the bleeder in this case. the hammering gives the unit a shock that can help break it free.
now with the rubber wrapped up and the vehicle in a well ventilated area its time to torch the caliper.(BE SAFE USE COMMON SENSE AND HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AT HAND) and what your trying to accomplish here is heating up the surrounding metal to expand and let the bleeder free. sometime you can get it to hot and you will need to let it cool down .i USUALLY HEAT FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. but most times with heating and then spraying a little oil after the flame is away from the repair area you will see it smoke and the oil will flow into the threads a little bit and loosen the bleeder and then you can turn it out and remove the bleeder and replace it with one from the local auto parts store or online store there are many places that sell replacements
This repair has worked countless times for me and i now have a video on the channel for it as well that you can check out
